The winter solstice is here!

Today, 21st of December 2022, is the longest night of the year and human beings have been marking the astronomical phenomena with all sorts of celebrations along history for thousands of years. Celebrations vary through cultures and countries but one common thing we all have is that people will gather with their loved ones around food, music and joy around the date. After the shortest day, the days start getting longer and the dark nights getting shorter so the spring starts getting closer! The word 'solstice' comes from the Latin solstitium meaning 'Sun stands still' which describes the sun's path in the skies. Wether you are heading to Stonehenche to celebrate the sun rising or if you will be enjoying some mulled wine singing carols around a Yule log, we wish you all a happy winter solstice!
